Repealing “Costa-Hawkins” by approving Prop 10, is NOT the answer. Housing prices are determined by two things: 1) supply and 2) demand. We all know that demand for housing, especially in the 26th Senate District, will always remain high. Therefore, we need to increase supply of housing.
How do we increase supply of housing in LA? — We lower restrictions for building, lower permit fees and significantly decrease the time it takes to get approvals for new housing units, while also encouraging the development of higher density multi-housing (especially around metro and bus stops). Lowering the housing supply constraints that government officials place on developers and homeowners will bring about sustainable positive results to our housing shortage.
